One of the staff members worked with a bank last year for 11 months (he joined the bank in 2000), and management is refusing to give a bonus for the 11 months of last year. In such a case, what will be the legal steps to take for recovery?

The employee will receive a bonus if he has completed 30 working days. Kindly go through the act. The amount should be on a pro-rata basis.

Was the employee under the purview of The Payment of Bonus Act? If yes, please approach the labor authorities after giving the bank officials an opportunity to pay up. If the answer is no, then you have no legal recourse unless it is specifically agreed upon in his appointment letter.
