Hi seniors, my name is Pramod P. I am a fresher in MBA HR. After searching for a long time, I received an opportunity in HR as a recruiter at a Coimbatore-based company called Webyara. However, the issue is that they are requesting the submission of original documents to secure the job. Upon researching the company on their website, I was shocked to discover negative information, suggesting the company may be fraudulent.

I am now in a dilemma about whether to accept the job offer. I am truly eager to establish a career in HR. Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

As you have already checked about the organization and know it is not good, then why join it? Also, remember if you give your original documents, then you will not be able to apply for other openings. I know the market is not good, but you don't have to jump from the well to the ocean.

Opportunities in the Government Sector

Pramod, in the private sector, the market is bad, but you could try in the government sector as there are several openings in the banks and central government sector. It may not be in HR, but the job and salary are also good. You could go through the Naukri and Monster sites for such jobs. Most people have a wrong notion that government jobs are boring, but it is not true. In case you are not happy, then you could always try in the private sector.

Your desperation to get a job as a fresher is understandable, but why would you want to put your career at risk by joining a company that you know is not conducive to your future? Submitting original certificates should not be an issue, as many MNCs and private organizations have such clauses, especially for freshers who tend to switch jobs frequently. This is just to ensure stability, but ultimately, the decision lies with you.

Regardless of how you perceive this company to be fraudulent, it is better to wait for the best opportunity that is meant for you, rather than hastily choosing the one in front of you.

Handling Job Offers and Company Reputation Concerns

Have you realized that you have read something about a company on some XYZ website? You're even unsure if this could have been a source of defamation. Well, we always think that it's not our job to know what's right or wrong.

You are a fresher and would be in a bizarre situation to deal with. Let me ask you:

- Have you received the offer letter from their organization?
- In what way have they given you the letter, by hand, by post, or even by email?

If they've provided it to you by email, reply to the same with a note of thanks and request them for a hard copy originally signed by the concerned person and the HR, along with their mobile and telephone numbers. [Edited: You will have physical evidence with you by doing the same, and you may know how they deal if they deny providing any physical documentation.]

P.S: By doing some groundwork, you could also find a fine tactic to approach and get the required info. The more you panic, the less you can expect things to go your way.

Avoid Handing Over Original Certificates

Don't take a chance in handing over original certificates. If you are a hundred percent sure that the company is a fraud, why take the chance? Continue your search, and you will find a better, reliable job.

For entry levels, money should not be a criterion, but the entry itself is important. You can visit the office and see the situation yourself.

Please work on getting the correct information about the company, its policies, and its reputation in the industry. If you feel that the company is secure in all aspects, then only you can decide to proceed; otherwise, the world is still vast with opportunities to explore. You can also suggest an indemnity clause for service retention instead of submitting original documents. I recommend opening up with employers as you will learn more.
