Dear Seniors, I am working in a Delhi-based company. Our registered office is in Delhi. As I know, professional tax is not applicable in Delhi, but we have some branches in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, and Haryana. Is it applicable to us for our branches? Please advise.

Professional Tax Applicability for Branches

Professional Tax is applicable to all your branches. You have to deduct PT from your respective location employees and remit the same in the local area. In some states, remittance is on a monthly basis, while in others, it is once every 6 months. Kindly check with the local applicable law.

Any company starting a new branch at any location should obtain a Shops & Establishments license for each branch/location. The Professional Tax (PT) should be paid to the respective state government.
