Stuck in a 3-Month Notice Period: Can I Negotiate a Shorter Exit to Join a New Job?

Hi Experts, I would like to know something about the notice period policy of public companies. In my company, as per my band and designation, the notice period is 3 months. I have a better opportunity somewhere else, and they're asking me to join within 30-45 days as the requirement is a little urgent. So, I would like to know if there's any way to negotiate the notice period with my current company.

Understanding Notice Period Policies

Recently, I also got to know that as per Indian Government company laws, there is only a one-month notice which needs to be served by the employee. No company can force you to stay for more than one month. So, please let me know how true that is.

Please advise me on how to go about it. I am really perplexed.

It is correct that no company can force you to give more than a one-month notice period. Please check your appointment letter for the specific clause regarding this. If the notice period mentioned is one month, then you can base your arguments on that.
