How Can I Withdraw My PF Without a Bank Passbook and What Forms Do I Need?

harnek singh
Please tell me, how can an employee who wants to withdraw their PF do so if they have a salary account in HDFC Bank but no bank passbook? Additionally, how many months of deduction for the EPF pension fund are required if an employee worked for 5 months in a company and then resigned? Which form needs to be filled out to withdraw the PF?

Thank you.

The bank statement of HDFC Bank is a valid proof to attach. You can get the duly stamped statement from your branch. Even e-statements nowadays are valid attachments.

With respect to your other query, I am not sure but have an idea that PF can be withdrawn after 6 months of completion from the contribution date. But still, I would suggest you verify with some seniors.

"Just attach the 'cancelled' check of the bank A/C. If EPF deduction is less than 6 months, then the EPS (part of EPF) will be forfeited.

As mentioned by Ashish, those are the documents required for PF/Pension withdrawal.

Bank Document Requirements

For your first question, as he doesn't have a passbook, a canceled check or any other valid bank document that includes the bank address and account details will work.

Eligibility for Pension Claim

For the second question, no one is eligible to claim a pension if they have worked less than 6 months (as pension calculations round off months to zero for less than 6 months and one year for more than 6 months). However, in the case of full disablement/death, there are chances that he/nominee can avail of the pension. Please correct me if I am wrong! (I believe he can claim PF using Form 19 but not Pension using Form 10c).

Thank you.
