Transitioning from Manufacturing to IT HR: Is My Experience Valuable?

Radhika_29
I need guidance from the seniors. Currently, I am working in a furniture manufacturing industry with around 180 employees. I am responsible for overseeing activities such as recruitment, PF, ESI, performance appraisal, time records, and salaries. I would like to know if this experience will be considered valuable. Additionally, I am curious about the possibility of transitioning to the IT industry as an HR professional.

Thanks in advance.

Right now, you are working as an HR executive in the furniture manufacturing industry. It's good to gain more knowledge in HR and statutory aspects as a young professional. It's important to prioritize gaining knowledge before focusing on earning. Start by working and acquiring knowledge before considering a switch to the IT field. The IT industry is not as challenging to enter as you may think.

What Amit said is correct. The experience in the manufacturing industry will always count for any other industry.

Take one more suggestion from my associate: there is a significant difference between IT industries and manufacturing industries. The experience in manufacturing never diminishes. You can transition from manufacturing to IT, but not vice versa. Another point to consider is that as a new employee, you gain valuable exposure to various functions in manufacturing. Therefore, it is beneficial to gather more experience in manufacturing before contemplating a move to IT.
