How Do I Politely Write a Termination Letter to a Senior Consultant Due to Budget Cuts?

Dear Seniors,

Greetings. We would like to discontinue the services of one of the consultants who is currently rendering his services to our company. He is one of the senior personnel. However, due to some internal financial crises within the company, we have to make the difficult decision to terminate his services as part of our cost-cutting measures.

Request for Assistance with Termination Letter

I am tasked with issuing a letter in the most polite manner possible, informing him to leave the organization based on the reasons mentioned above. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could assist me with a letter format for this purpose.

Thanks & Regards,
Raj

Dear Raj, The contents of the format can be as follows: Mr./Ms, you were engaged as a Consultant in our organization to provide expert advice on _______ (mention the matter on which consultancy was given). However, due to unavoidable circumstances, we are unable to continue your association with our organization, and we are discontinuing your consultancy services effective from _______. Kindly submit your final bill for the services rendered. We hope to have your expert services again in the near future. Regards

Steps to Follow:

1. Check his consulting/employment agreement.
2. After validating the terms and conditions, use a template from this forum and customize it to your needs.
3. Prior to issuing the letter, my recommendation is to have a joint meeting with his senior and inform him verbally of the course of action you intend to take.
4. If he does not offer his resignation, issue the letter.
