Suspension Situations and Procedures
An employee can be placed under suspension in two situations. First, if complaints of serious misconduct are received against the employee, they can be placed under suspension pending a domestic inquiry. In this situation, we have to pay a subsistence allowance as defined in the Certified Standing Orders of the organization or as in the Model Standing Orders, which is normally at 50% of their pay for the first 3 months of the suspension period. If the suspension is prolonged beyond 3 months, the subsistence allowance will be at 75% of pay.
