Becoming a consultant in HR - system of appraisal for school to evaluate their teachers

isabelguedes
Hello, everyone! I'm new in this business of human resources. I'm a teacher and I'm thinking about becoming a consultant in human resources. My idea is to sell a system of employee appraisal to other schools, so that managers can use to evaluate their teachers. Do you think this is a good idea? Is there anything alike in your country? Thank you for your opinion.

Hi Isabel,
as far as my opinion is concerned, it is a good idea, but there are few points to be considered before that -
# Firstly you should be awared of what exactly HUMAN RESOURCE is , I am saying this as you stated that you are new into this field.
# For appraisal system , you really need to know everything about it, because you are going to sell it, not using for your company..
# For Performance Appraisal, you should know everything about T & D also, as it will help you to compare and identify the performance......
With all these, this is a nice idea, you can go for it...
On your question for this in our country..
Yes we have many top placement companies who are selling almost all the functions to many major companies....

Hello, Deepali Singh:
Thank you for your reply. Can you explain me what T&D means? Can you also help with some articles or sites that you know about on this subject? By the way, it crossed my mind to use it in my company first as a means to test it. But I gave up, because I was afraid of how people, who are my work mates and friends, might teact to this new system. What is your opinion? Have you tried something like this in your organization?
Best regards
Isabel

Isabel,
Couple random thoughts you may want to mull over.
1) Is the system you devised a "need" based, when i say "need" based I mean is this a fallout of some kind of a survey you have done within the school community?
2) Do they really want such a system? Do they have the budget? How many prospective buyers do you have?
3) Are their any other systems in place? Will you have any competitors?
Unless you are certain of a " market need" of a product or a system no matter how good it is, it will be a tough sell.
Hope this helps

Hi Isabel,
The driving principle behind the performance review system should be is to improve the quality of education for all pupils, assisting school teachers to develop and to carry out their duties more effectively. Teachers, as professionals, deserve a fair system of performance review. Review must include opportunities for career and professional development relevant both to school targets and personal career aspirations. Teachers make a difference to the achievement of their pupils, and that should be recognised as a key part of the review process. Standards of pupil attainment should be raised by establishing clear connections between pupil progress and teachers' objectives.
T & D Stands for Training and Development. You have a separate section in Cite HR where you can get more info on this. If you have any trouble in getting it our friends are always there to help you.
