Generation and Submission of EPF Contribution Challan

With effect from March 2012 (paid in April 2012), EPFO has launched the EPF – e-Sewa scheme.

Advantages of EPF – e-Sewa scheme:

- No paper returns required now
- No submission of 5, 10, 12A, 3A, 6A returns required now
- Employers receive instant SMS notifications of contribution payments
- EPF contributions are credited to members' accounts on a monthly basis
- Employers can view annual account slips ‘online’ from the year 2011-12

How to make use of EPF – e-Sewa:

1. Go to the EPFO website
2. Click on Online ECR/Challan submission
3. Click on Employer e-Sewa
4. Register your establishment by following instructions and obtain your “USER NAME” and “PASSWORD”
5. Prepare your wage sheet/contribution details strictly as per ECR File Format
6. Log in to your account using your user name and password
7. Click on ECR > ECR Upload > Choose File > Submit
8. Approve the file if correct; correct the file if it shows an error
9. Find the ECR challan with TRRN Number > Complete the challan manually for A/c 2, 21, and 22
10. Your challan with TRRN Number will be generated > Download it immediately as it will lapse after 15 days
11. Pay the contribution using the CINB facility of SBI; or take a printout of the challan > fill in the cheque details > submit the challan and cheque to the designated branch of SBI > Receive an SMS about the clearance of the contribution cheque > Collect the challan after clearance
12. Save month-wise PDFs of ECR, TRRN Challan, Challan Acknowledgement, and Remittance Confirmation for record-keeping
