ESI Eligibility Limit Increase to Rs. 20,000: Any Updates or Insights?

Hi seniors, I have heard through the grapevine that the ESI eligibility limit is going to be raised to Rs. 20,000. If you have any updates on this, please share. Thank you in advance.

Hi Sathyapriya, just now, I checked the ESIC website, but there is no information regarding an increase in the limit.

Till now, i.e., 07/09/2012, no amendment has been made in the ESIC Act. Currently, if someone's gross salary is Rs. 15,000 per month, then he/she comes under ESIC. If someone's gross salary is Rs. 15,001, then he/she does not come under ESIC.

I hope the confusion is clear now. If the government amends the ESIC Gross Salary Limit, then the ESIC Department will send a circular to all the industries covered by it. It will also be published in the newspaper.
