Navigating a New Role: Onboarding Tips and Impression Management

Pijush_2011
Hello Everyone.

My name is Pijush Chunari, and I am going to join a new organization as a Trainee HR Manager starting on the 3rd of September. I would appreciate suggestions from you all on how to adjust to the new environment. Additionally, what steps should I take on the first day to create a good impression? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Please help me out.

Mr. Pijush,

Keep your mind open. Do not enter the office on the first day with any preconceived notions about the office or people.

Observe the work culture there. How people interact with each other. Is it a sharing or collaborative work culture? What are the office formalities? How do people work there? Whether they stay late, etc.

While leaving the office, inform your reporting authority. Similarly, be punctual when attending the office. Otherwise, you may give initial bad impressions about your attitude.

Ascertain whom to report to and engage yourself with your reporting authority to understand them.

Do not pass any comments about the work culture and the people there, even from the second day, even if provoked by others.

Observe whether there are any power centers in the office. Some senior members usually act that way. Be tactful with them.

Learn procedures and systems and spend some time on it.

After a month, you will have an idea about the office, and adjustment becomes easy.
