Facing a Legal Notice for Resigning During Probation: How to Handle a Bond Dispute?

I joined a company and was asked to sign a bond for 2 lakh Rs for a 2-year period before receiving the offer letter (this information was not provided during the interview). I signed the bond and started working at the company. However, within 15 days of joining, I encountered several issues and decided to resign without accepting any salary. Now, I have received a legal notice from their legal adviser demanding the payment of the 2 lakh rupees bond within 15 days of receiving the notice.

Reasons for My Resignation

1. The corporate grade did not align with my industry experience, indicating limited career growth opportunities.

2. The actual work did not match what was discussed during the initial phone conversations.

3. The accommodation provided during training at a different location was inadequate, leading to illness.

4. Despite requesting separate accommodation, it was not arranged.

5. The company treated employees like bonded labor, prompting my decision to leave and communicate my reasons via resignation email before ceasing to go to the office.

6. I had not completed the training, received any salary, and was still in the probationary period when I received the legal notice demanding payment of the bond amount to their client.

7. I am currently unemployed and facing difficulties. Please advise.

Is there any job description specified in the bond/appointment letter? Was relocation specified as an option for training in the agreement? What is the duration of the training period? What training was provided, and where was it provided? Whatever the reason, bonding is illegal. No need to worry.

Legality of the Bond System in PSUs

Is the bond system legal in the case of employment in PSUs? I am asking this question because many Maharatna and Navratna companies are requiring newly joined management trainees to sign a bond to serve for a period of 5 years. Is this legally correct?

Government Directive on Bond System in Hospitals

Today, regarding a case between the Nurses Association and hospital management in the Supreme Court (a case relating to the nurses' strike in Kerala), the Indian Government has filed an affidavit stating that a directive has been issued to all state governments that the bond system should not be enforced in hospitals. If the bond system cannot be implemented in hospitals, then why not in other establishments? I will provide updates on the same as soon as I receive further information.

Is there any job description specified in the bond or appointment letter? Was relocation mentioned as an option for training in the agreement? What is the duration of the training period? What kind of training was provided and where was it conducted?

Regardless of the reason, bonding is illegal, so there is no need to worry.

Upon checking the bond paper, it states that training will be provided for three months, with a total cost of 2 lakh rupees. However, during my time at the office, most of the 15 days were spent idle. I did not receive any technical training to enhance my knowledge. Shortly into the training, I realized that it was not what I was promised.

Responding to the Legal Notice

Can I respond via email instead of involving a lawyer? Or should I ignore the legal notice altogether? The legal notice was not received by my family but by my neighbor.
