Piece-Rate Work in Factory Premises

a) Is piece-rate work allowable in factory premises or not?

Applicability of PF and ESI on Piece-Rate Work

b) Is PF and ESI applicable on piece-rate work?

Piece-Rate Work in Factory Premises

Piece-rate work is allowable in factory premises. Yes, it is also applicable for ESI and PF.

Employees receiving a daily average wage up to Rs.70/- (w.e.f 1-8-07) are exempted from payment of contribution. Employers will, however, contribute their own share in respect of these employees. PF is exempted because the job is not permanent in nature.
