Demoted Due to Organizational Changes: Is There a Clause to Protect My Position?

ritesh.ahirrao@gmail.com
I am working with an MNC. Last year, the company reduced my designation for what I believe were silly reasons, citing a change in the organization's structure. Do we have any clause regarding this? Please suggest.

Please provide more details such as the previous designation and the new one, as well as any other reasons given for the change in designation (apart from 'organization structure change'), your function/role in the MNC, etc. It may not be possible to offer realistic suggestions unless all the details are provided.

I second TS's thoughts. Besides, it is an accepted practice to change "Designation" due to changes in management's thoughts to realign the business plan and future growth. What's important for you to note is:

1. Have your "KPI" and "KRA" changed due to these changes? If yes, will it affect your performance?
2. What's your current hierarchy in the org chart of the company after the changes?
3. Will your current and future monetary benefits be affected?
4. Have others in your grade also been affected, or is it only you who has been targeted? If yes, have counseling done with HR and your reporting boss?

This is just what came to my mind now. Hoping to get more info on the question asked by TS.

As far as my knowledge goes, your case is almost like you are demoted instead of promoted. This demotion is not a part of any organization's policy. Since it is not stated in your company's policy, you may not ask them to provide an explanation for this. You could inquire to some extent, but their answer may not meet your requirements. In this situation, one's mind cannot rest at peace. It may be better to leave this current company and search for another job that aligns with your profile and offers opportunities for advancement.
