Nominee for PF: Can a Separated Woman with a Minor Child Choose Her Daughter?

ravitashukla1
Dear Seniors, In my company, there is a lady who is separated from her husband and has only one minor daughter. Whom can she make the nominee for PF? As far as I know, the nominee must be married. Please guide me.

Thanks,
Ravita

As far as nominees are concerned, you can nominate your husband's dependent parents, i.e., your mother-in-law and father-in-law, or you can nominate your daughter as well. Seniors, please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks & Regards,
Sandesh

It is better to nominate the minor daughter for PF purposes. It is logical that if the daughter is a minor, then her mother will have a considerable pending number of years of service. The nominee comes into the picture in the case of the death of the PF member. Otherwise, the lady can nominate her own mother, father, sister, or alternatively, she can nominate her daughter and any one member of the family with a 50% share to each.
