Request for Workmen's Compensation Policy

I am working as the Manager of HR in a switchgear company. Just now, we received a call from our Service Engineer who is currently at the Tiroda site (in Maharashtra State) of our customer. He took two technicians with him to the site. He is informing us that the HR Manager of that company is requesting the Workmen's Compensation policy for these two technicians who are already covered under ESIC.

The HR Manager of the company claims that ESIC does not apply there because there is no ESI Dispensary within a 25-kilometer radius. Please advise.

Workmen Compensation Policy for Technicians

I am working as a Manager in HR at a switchgear company. We recently received a call from our Service Engineer, who is currently managing operations at the Tiroda site in Maharashtra for one of our clients. He has taken two technicians with him to the site. The HR Manager of the client company is requesting the Workmen Compensation policy for these two technicians, who are already covered under ESIC.

The HR Manager argues that ESIC is not applicable because there is no ESI Dispensary within a 25-kilometer radius. It is crucial to consider how long these technicians will be deployed at the client's site. If it is a short visit for 2-3 days, you may manage with ESIC coverage. However, if they will be continuously deployed there, it is advisable to arrange for their coverage under Workmen Compensation.
