Why Do Some Companies Calculate Salaries Based on 26 or 27 Days? Seeking Clarification

MANJUNATH S
Hi all,

I have a clarification/doubt related to salary calculations. In some companies, the salary is divided by 30 or 31 days, but in a few other companies, the calculations are made based on 26 or 27 days.

I would like to know what kind of justification can be given for calculating the salary based on 26 or 27 days.

Regards,
Manjunath S.

Hi,

Salary is calculated based on the number of days in a particular month. For January, it will be 31 days, for April it will be 30 days, and for February, it will be 28 or 29 days.

Hi friends,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. What I actually want is as mentioned below: In my company, 3 to 4 years ago, the salary was calculated based on 30 or 31 days, but later we switched to calculating based on 26 or 27 days. When we pay, we pay for 26 or 27 days. That is, if the employee is fully present for 26 or 27 days, we pay them their full salary. I would like to know what kind of justification can be given for doing so and how Sunday's salary is adjusted.

Salary: You have to calculate only for the whole month.

I don't understand the reason for excluding Sundays.

Dear,

Salary will be calculated based on the number of days in the month, whether it is 30 or 31 days. However, the government has decided that salary calculations will be based on 30 days.

Thank you.

Mr. Manjunath!

Hi!

I am new to this site. I read your query. I would like to submit a few words for your clarification. There are two types of classifications of employees: Workers and Staff. Workers are on a daily wage basis, while Staff are on a monthly salary basis. When calculating payments on a daily basis, it should be based on 26 days. For salary-based payments, it should be calculated according to the specific month, typically 28/29/30/31 days. When paying wages, weekly offs cannot be factored in, so we consider 26 days. All statutory benefits should be calculated accordingly.
