Should I Take an HR Recruiter Job or Wait for a Generalist Role? Seeking Advice!

I am Aabha Kathait, with over one year of experience in a generalist profile. Due to certain reasons, I have to leave my current job. Currently, I am only receiving job offers for an HR-Recruiter position, which I am not interested in due to a lack of interest in the recruitment area. However, as I am currently unemployed and unable to secure a generalist role, should I wait for a better opportunity, or should I consider joining as a recruiter?

It all depends upon your circumstances. One can argue for both options. It's difficult to negotiate for a good salary if you are not in a job. However, it may be futile to take up a job that does not interest you. When you are not interested, the chances are that you will not work with the level of commitment required, and you may not be effective in getting a good reference.

What Mr. Simhan said is correct. You will find it difficult to perform if you are not interested in the job. On the other hand, you cannot allow yourself to be jobless for a long time either. You can follow any of the following options.

1) If you get over your dislike for the recruiter's job, you can take that up for now since being occupied is better than idling away time. Look for a break in the Generalist profile soon.

2) If the first option is not possible, try to join a short-term training course in the Generalist profile and expedite your efforts to get a suitable job of your choice in the meantime. This way, you can tell the interviewers that you are pursuing a course in the intervening period.
