Request for Information on General and Consultant HR

A consultant will not be performing core HR functions. They will be providing advisory or support services that are outsourced to them by the company, such as recruitment, training, or payroll management. Therefore, a consultant is not an employee of the company that outsources such functions. They will be focused on an exclusive specialist function.

On the other hand, an HR Generalist will be responsible for core HR functions like handling joining formalities, identifying training needs, calculating statutory benefits, managing full and final settlements, etc., as part of the company's HR department. Their responsibilities are specific to one HR function at the entry level, but they will have a general exposure to all HR functions initially.

I trust this provides you with a basic idea to help you make a decision about your career.
