Need to Withdraw My PF After Years of Inactivity – Is It Still Possible?

AnandRaja
Hi Folks, I am Anand. I worked at a company and resigned in September 2009. For some reasons, I forgot to withdraw or transfer my PF amount. Now, I am in need of money, so I am planning to withdraw the PF amount instead of transferring it. It's been more than two years since I neither withdrew nor transferred my PF amount. If I want to withdraw my money now, is it possible to withdraw the PF amount? Can I approach my previous employer to withdraw the PF amount?

You can withdraw the PF by sending Forms 19 and 10C through your previous employer. In case you had worked for 10 years (more than 9 years and 6 months), you do not need to send Form 10C because you cannot withdraw the pension fund.

If your previous employer is not traceable or refuses to sign the forms, you can send them directly to the EPF Office where your accounts were maintained. Get your signature attested by a Bank Manager or another authorized person. Also, attach a canceled cheque leaf to facilitate the electronic transfer of funds by the EPFO.
