Pension Eligibility for Employee Who Passed Away After Three Years of Service?

vivek.dhanbad
One of our employees worked in the factory for three years and passed away outside the factory premises due to natural causes. He was covered under PF and ESI.

Pension Eligibility Query

My question is: Will he be eligible for a pension from the Provident Fund Department since he worked for three years?

With regards,

Yes, the person (nominee) is eligible for receiving a pension as well as the EDLI amount under the EPF Act. The nominee also receives funeral expenses from ESIC.

Pension Eligibility Under EPS

Under EPS, if he was married, his widow along with two children will receive a pension. If he was a bachelor, his nominee will receive a pension in addition to benefits under the EDLI Scheme. Please contact the PRO of the RPFC office with details.

Yes, if a person contributes to EPF/ESI for at least one month, their family is eligible for a pension from EPF/ESI upon their natural death. If you encounter any difficulties, please contact Ex-Sgt Jahagirdar at [Phone Number Removed For Privacy Reasons].

My condolences to the concerned family.

Yes, his family will receive a pension even if the PF is remitted for only one month. They can also claim funeral benefits from the ESI department too.
