Can an Appointment or Confirmation Letter Be Signed by an 'Authorized Signatory' Without a Name?

Please let me know if an appointment letter or confirmation letter can be signed as "authorized signatory" without giving any designation or name. The company is a large-scale public limited company and listed.

It is advisable that the letter of appointment be signed by the authority competent to sign it.

No company—big or small—gives appointment letters without the name and designation of the signatory in the letter. There's something fishy here—please check it out.
