Considering a Career with an NGO After an MBA in Marketing and HRM – Is It a Smart Move?

Hi,

I am an MBA (Business Economics) student. My areas of specialization are Marketing and HRM. I have done my summer training in Event Management, specifically focusing on Employee Welfare activities at Nestle India Limited. After completing my MBA, I am considering working with an NGO such as Lion's Club or another organization. Kindly suggest whether this choice would be beneficial for my career or not.

Hi Sumedha,

You have to decide in which sector you want to make your career after your MBA. If you really want to make your career in an NGO, then it might be a good path to start. But in the future, if you would like to change your industry, it might be difficult for you. If you want to make a career in corporates, don't go with all such things at the start of your career. Better look for a better opportunity in a small or medium-sized organization to understand the functions and activities first.

Amit Seth.

Hi Sumedha,

Nice to know that you want to join an NGO. That's really great. But not at the starting point of your career. I think first you have to join the corporate world. After gaining some knowledge and experience, you can switch to an NGO.

Shikha
