Hi Saraswathi,
You have chosen a wonderful topic, I think. To outsiders, hospitality and HR services are very dry topics. I am a graduate, but if given an opportunity, I'll pursue a project on HRM issues. My personal idea about the project will be the standardization of HR services.
- Obtain statistics about how many employees know about the rights they acquire other than salary. Due to the lack of knowledge of these rights, employees have become and still are becoming targets and scapegoats of bad HR practices. I intend to prepare a questionnaire and gather responses from at least one lakh employees in companies of various statures.
- What can be done to enlighten employees about the rights they gain when employed? The availability of this information should be equivalent to that of a newspaper.
- Prepare another questionnaire to assess how well HR and management are treating the employees. Evaluate how employees feel about working for a particular organization, etc.
- Provide a normalized rating to companies based on their HR practices and make this information publicly available.
- If the statistics obtained and the analyzed results closely reflect the actual situation, to the extent that your rating becomes a significant source of a company's profile, it would be beneficial to lakhs of employees.
- Additionally, a HR quality services certification program could be designed. A certified HR professional may not be able to guarantee practical adherence to the standards, but they should have a clear understanding of what they are supposed to do.
This is a substantial project, I believe, but if you can develop a concept along these lines, it would be great.
So, that was my idea for a project. Please excuse me if this is not suitable for a project or thesis.
Saraswathi, if there is anything useful you can extract from my points and modify to suit your needs, it would be appreciated. If irrelevant, kindly ignore.
All the Best!
