Struggling with Attrition Reports in BPO MIS: How Do I Start and What Do I Need?

swati karnani
I am working with a BPO. I'm the only one working in MIS. We have not established much report format which can be used in MIS here. Now, I have to present an attrition report to my boss as soon as possible. I have no idea about the attrition report as I am a fresher. Can you please help me? I want to know how and where to begin evaluating attrition rate, what kind of information is required, and what formats would I need. I want a simple attrition format. If someone can provide me with a sample system, it would be very useful.

Thank you,
Swati.

Hi Swati,

Attrition rate is calculated based on the following factors: manpower available, manpower available in the last month, resignations during that month, and the number of new joiners in that month.

The formula for attrition rate is: No. of resignees / Available manpower * 100. Available manpower is calculated by adding the number of new joiners and deducting resignees from the manpower of the last month. This formula provides the attrition rate for a particular month.

Similarly, you can calculate attrition rates for a year, region-wise attrition rates, hierarchy-wise attrition rates, education-wise attrition rates, and more. This data assists management in decision-making.

I hope this information has helped you address your concerns and generate various reports.

Dear Amit,

I have a query based on your reply. If two people resign during a month and their replacements also join in the same month, if we apply your formula, it would say that the attrition is zero percent. How will you justify this?

Awaiting your reply.

Neha
