Hi All,

I need guidance to start a career in HR as an HR Assistant. I have completed my MBA in HR and have over 8 years of work experience in the Administration Department across 2-3 different industries. However, I just need a little help on how to begin this new journey.

Many Thanks

Hi Nubira,

As you have really good experience in Administration, you must have known about HR and their functions because at an industrial level, 8+ years of experience automatically allows an employee to engage in some activities of HR. Additionally, you have completed your MBA-HR (Value Added Skill).

Administration in the corporate sector today, and according to the current demand and necessities, is becoming a distinct and individual part but essentially a part of Human Resource Management. In many organizations, they are still a part of HR and work under them. Therefore, I would like to know about your knowledge and experience in Human Resources. What do you know and understand about HR?

Secondly, in simple language, to enter into CORE HR, you just have to improve your knowledge first and then make some changes in your resume for HR job applications. You need to focus on developing Value Added skills in HR for your resume.

For example, you have to work on wages/salary and compensation calculations, ESIC and EPF (Rules & Regulations, Statutory requirements for Employees and Employers, Returns), Gratuity, Bonus, and other HR functions.

I would also suggest you consider taking SAP HR courses, which are increasingly important requirements and skills in the HR world. This will undoubtedly provide you with more opportunities to establish yourself in HR. However, before this, you need to start studying, work hard, stay updated with every development in the HR world, and most importantly, show your interest in HR.

Spend as much time as you can here, read and understand the discussions, and gain knowledge about HR functions.

I also recommend that you visit the web links below, which will help give you an overview of HR functions:
