Hi Members,

Can anyone enlighten me about HRM and HRD processes and what the difference is between HRM and HRD?

Thanks and Regards
Hi Vijay,

According to me, the difference between HRM and HRD is as follows:

HRM - Human Resource Management - in short, means managing the HR of our company, observing how they work and identifying areas where they may lack.

In HRD - Human Resource Development - the emphasis is more on developing the human resources.

The evolution of HR has seen phases from Personnel to Human Resource Department to Human Resource Management and currently to Human Resource Development.

Times have changed today, and so has HR. The HR department was initially established to make our employees an asset of our company, but now they are considered as assets themselves and have become associates of the company.

HRD was formed because an HR manager cannot manage people or employees, as one can only manage non-living things. The role of an HR manager now is to develop employees based on their potential and the company's goals.

Development should not only be in favor of the company but also benefit the employees. It should encompass practical, aesthetic, intellectual, physical, and mental aspects, aiming at overall long-term development.

I would appreciate it if you could revert back.

Thank you.

For doing so, the HR manager needs to understand the overall functioning of the organization. To develop and allocate human resources to the best use, the HR manager should understand the individual requirements of the various departments. So, in short, the HR manager should be abreast with the overall working and understanding of the organization.
