Can I Provide Form 16 and TDS Certificate to a Former Employee? Seeking Advice!

Hi, I have a doubt regarding Form 16. It is a certificate issued to you by your employer stating the details of the salary you have earned and the tax deducted on your behalf and paid to the government. I received a call from an employee, X, requesting me to provide Form 16. Can I provide Form 16 to him? If so, do I need to provide the TDS certificate to him for the employment period with us before, right? Suggestions, please.

I am not clear on your queries. Do you mean, as an ex-employee (X Employee), that the previous employee is asking for Form 16 from the current employer? What is the purpose of this request? A new employer may ask for Form 16 if you are considering changing jobs.

I understand it like this. One employee has left your company and is asking for Form 16 for the TDS deducted from his/her salary. You should provide Form 16 to the ex-employee whether TDS has been deducted or not.

Thank you for the information. Yes, TDS was deducted. He mentioned that he requires it for a loan application. Could you please provide guidance on the general reasons for which we can issue TDS forms to our employees?
