Feeling Stuck Between Hardware Networking and Software Development? Need Career Advice!

ashmita saha
Hello everyone, I am Ashmita. I've just finished my BE Computer Finals and am now waiting for the results. However, I am unsure about which field to specialize in. I am considering either pursuing a career in hardware/networking and obtaining a CCNA certification or enrolling in a .NET course for software development. I must admit that I am not very proficient in programming and coding.

Career Path Advice Needed

Could you please advise me on whether hardware and networking is a suitable career path for females and freshers?

Regards,
Ashmita

Actually, it's not about the institute. I want to know which field is better: Hardware/Networking or Developer, especially for a fresher and females. I've been hearing a few things like networking has a field job, so females aren't the best choice for this kind of job.

If anyone is already working in the networking field or has any idea about this, then please do share it. It would be of great help to me.

Thanks.

I don't think it's about male/female when you make a career choice. There are quite a few females in field jobs, and they are doing pretty well too. It's all about what suits your nature and temperament and, of course, your qualifications/specialization. If you think field jobs aren't for you, you can consider System/Database Admin roles—since you mentioned you aren't very good at coding. However, please note that Admin roles, in general, may sometimes require you to work long hours at the job, given the very nature of the problems associated with such activities. Also, sometimes, such jobs may require 24x7 availability, even though you may be off-duty.

All the best.

Regards, TS
