Dear Manish,
The Formulae for Frequency rate is No of accidents x 10,00,000 / total number of man hours worked.
The formulae for Severity Rate is Total number mandays lost x 10,00,000 / Total number of manhours worked.
You can make excel sheet based on these inputs.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir

Dear Mr. Pillai,
In Europe many companies consider 7500 mandays lost.
dupont takes it as 6000 man days lost.
Hope this clarifies.
Thanks & Regards,

Dear Kesava Pillai Sir
A very warm welcome back to CiteHR EHS forum... Hope to get your guidance through this forum as actively as earlier...
We are counting 6000 man-days for each fatal accident... Why it is so taking, I don't have an idea?
Can you please share whether it is right and if so why 6000?
Kesava Pillai
Dear Friends,
You are right!
ILO and IS 3786-1983 gives percentage loss of earning capacity and equivalent loss of man-days. Accordingly for death 6000 man-days are charged.

Is any weightage to be given to victim's age for calculating loss of mandays of 6000mandays for fatality? For example, if a 55year old person dies, should we take 600mandays which is equivalent to 20years of service as loss as the victim would have put in only 10years of service had he survived?

Dear Sirs,
Severity rate at our construction was 0.55. Unfortunately, a fatal accident occured and worker lost his life.
So, before the fatal accident, the lost mandays were 2 and manhours worked were 3636836. so by formula of
Severity rate = No. of manday lost x 1000000 / Manhours worked = 2 x 1000000 / 3636836 = 0.5499.
So, now after the worker fatal accident, the serverity rate will be as follows;
SR = 2 x 6000 x 1000000 / 3636836 = 3299 .
for the above I have 2 questions:
1. the above calculation is correct i.e 3299 SR?.
2. What SR value we should maintain at site like 0.1 or 0.2 or (0.1 to 1 is no acceptable etc)
Please reply seniors.
Thanks
