Choosing Between MHRD and MLW in South Gujarat: Which Offers Better Career Opportunities?

As far as South Gujarat is concerned, which professional course should be preferred from MHRD/MLW? (i.e. MHRD = Masters in Human Resource Development & MLW = Masters in Labour Welfare). What are the opportunities with both the courses?

In my opinion, you should go for MHRD as MHRD covers both modern HR practices and labor legislations, while MLW concentrates on labor legislations only. As far as opportunities are concerned, being an MLW, you may get a job in companies having manufacturing units and involving blue-collar employees, while with MHRD, you may get a job in all types of companies, whether it be in IT, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Pharma, or Construction. Although there is no hard and fast rule for these assumptions, what I am talking about is the general trend. In MLW, you have to study labor legislations extensively, while in MHRD, the exposure to labor legislation will be there but less than in MLW. Now, you have to decide what exactly you intend to be. Do you have an interest in Factory HR (controlling and welfare of blue-collars) or in corporate (dealing with white collars).

The diamond industry is labor-intensive, requiring a strong understanding of labor legislations. With MLW qualification, you can access ample opportunities in this sector, given the scarcity of skilled individuals and the vast scope of the industry.

In today's scenario, many individuals are opting for an MBA in Human Resources over pursuing degrees in fields such as Master of Social Work (MSW) or MLW. This shift in preference reflects the growing demand for HR professionals in various industries.

As a student of Gujarat University who has just finished M.L.W., I am emphasizing that M.L.W. is a course that will definitely benefit you in the future and in the recent scenario. How does it benefit?

Competency of Subject... In this sense, I want to say that M.L.W. includes laws that are not covered in M.H.R.D., which can help you stand out in the selection process within a company.

Less Competition in M.L.W. Field In this perspective, I want to highlight that there are only 5 or 6 institutes of Labour Welfare within Gujarat, while when discussing M.H.R.D., there are more competitors in the field of Labor Welfare.

Labour Welfare Officer and Industrial Relationist Officer Labour welfare specifically focuses on becoming the mentioned officer, but beyond that, the labour welfare course includes subjects like Economics, Organizational Behavior, Industrial Relations, and especially Social and Industrial Psychology, which may not be studied in H.R.M. or other courses.
