Hi Mallika, Below are my suggestions for a successful career transition to HR.
Experience:
You have good experience in the BPO industry, and you can definitely use it to start your HR career. A few things you can do are:
1. If you are still working in a BPO, try to take an internal transfer to the HR Recruitment team (it's okay if they offer you an entry-level role there). You have knowledge of the kind of profiles needed in BPOs, and with this, you can quickly pick up recruiting for this industry.
2. If you are not currently employed, try to find a job in a Recruitment Consultancy specializing in the BPO sector. Many are eager to provide you with quick exposure. All you need to do is approach it with a learning attitude.
Education:
You will need to start with some formal education in HR. A few things you can do are:
1. Begin with a part-time weekend or distance learning HR diploma course with a reputable institute. This can take 1 to 2 years. Some good institutes that provide these courses are Welingkar, NMIMS, and Symbiosis.
2. Another option is to opt for a satellite course offered by Tier 1 colleges like XLRI and IIM Lucknow. Any of these courses can help you gain knowledge in all areas of HR without compromising too much of your time.
This can be a starting point, and in the future, you can shape it as you desire. Remember, a good start is half the battle. All the best!
