Simran Panda
Dear Sir/Ma'am, I have recently joined an organization as an HR executive in payroll. However, my problem is that I am a fresher, and my boss has no time to teach me step by step. In this situation, what should I do? Please, can anyone help me, or my career will be in the dark. Please, please...

First of all, discuss this matter with your boss. After receiving some guidance, work hard with honesty. Seek help from books, the internet, and your seniors as well.

Go to your boss with a problem that only he can solve, specifically related to your organization. Then, you can address your other concerns.

Thank you.

There is no age limit to learning. As you mentioned, your boss is very busy in his area of work because that is his working style. As you are in HR, you can approach the training department to provide you with some training on the needed functions. Remember, you can't expect your boss to teach you everything. He is supposed to guide you at each level but not all the time. Please study various HR functional materials from websites and try to link them with your current organization.

Make it a point that only you need enthusiasm for the same. All the very best!

Steps to Improve HR Practices

Start by looking at existing records and then search for the same topic on the internet or gather enough information. Ensure that it matches or follows the best practices in the same industry. Evaluate the scope for improving current practices and determine what needs to be done.

You can share this with HR professionals on the CiteHR forum. Also, discuss your findings with your manager. Slowly, you will start learning in your domain.

I would like to share a simple piece of advice that one of my seniors gave me: no one is going to give you responsibility; you have to take it. So, simply go and start doing, take the initiatives.

I understand what you all are saying. Thank you for all your vital suggestions. Currently, I am facing the problem of having no work, which means I don't have much work. I really want to work, but my boss is not giving me any tasks. He is just saying to do it myself. So, in this condition, what should I do? Please suggest.

Thanks and Regards,
Simran

Dear sir,

First of all, good morning to all of you. As you all suggest, I should take initiative, I have also tried a lot. But what type of initiative should I take? One thing I want to mention here is that my HR department is very weak. The main obstacle is my own boss. Now, I feel defeated.
