I am a silent member of this site. I am currently working in the automobile industry as a member of our organization. I have something on my mind. Please help me.

I have completed my B.Com and a Diploma in Human Resource Management, a one-year course. I am very much interested in HR. But, how can I improve myself to become an HR professional? Please help anyone.

All the best for your future career in HR. The basic qualification to start a career in HR is an MBA in HR. Since you are currently working, you can pursue a distance learning program in Human Resources from reputable universities.

To enter the HR field, you need to have a good understanding of the concepts and responsibilities of HR. There are many magazines where HR professionals from different companies share their views. You may face challenges in the beginning, but with time and experience, you will progress in your career. Eventually, you may become a manager in an automobile company.

Welcome to the HR Fraternity. It seems you are passionate about HR since you completed a Diploma in HR. You might have some knowledge of HR functions but not fully. If you are interested in Generalist/IR and core HR activities, you need to have a minimum qualification of an MBA/MSW. Firstly, join a company as an HR Assistant where you can start learning for 1-2 years and then apply for distance education - MBA/MSW. Gradually, you will find your destination. If there is no opportunity to work as an HR Assistant in your current company even after your request to your HOD, you should consider seeking a similar position elsewhere as you are very passionate about HR. As Rashmi suggested, if you are keen on gaining more exposure in HR, you can consider enrolling in practical HR training at HR house or another reputable institute. All the best for your career and, like the advice given by fellow members, you can go ahead with them. Just to add on, Personnel and HR in India are treated as equivalent. You need to find your passion for what exactly you want to do. I would suggest a full-time course rather than a part-time or distance learning. Firstly, from a full-time course, you would be exposed to in-depth knowledge and applications. Secondly, the possibility of a PPO or Campus placement.

If you want to gain work experience while studying, then I would suggest starting with a mediocre company so that you can learn various aspects of HR and not just personnel. There you would have creativity and freedom to pilot your ideas. Moreover, excel in what you are passionate about.

No, it will not help you. Kindly note that there will not be much salary difference. Do not sacrifice your passion for a higher income. Making that sacrifice may lead to a lack of full-fledged working attitude towards the Customer Support Executive role. Kindly let me know how many years of experience you have in customer support. What should I say if they ask, "How much salary do you expect?" As a fresher, can you suggest what I should say? It is based on the company requirements which you can see a lot of vacancies in advertisements. You have to try and try as you are a fresher. Don't ask for more salary once you gain more experience. If the interviewer asks you about salary expectations, you can answer them, "That's based on the company requirements or your choice as you are a fresher and not expecting more." Also, search for a consultant in your area.
