Can Employees Get a Relieving Letter if They Quit Before 6 Months? Let's Discuss!

Grajeshwari07
A relieving letter is provided to an employee if they complete a minimum of 6 months. In the case where an employee needs to quit within 4 months with a valid reason, is there a possibility to provide a relieving letter, or can we provide a service letter instead?

Comments please.

Whatever the reasons, we should go through the company policies. If possible, talk to the management. If they agree, then surely proceed. If not, it might trouble you later at some point.

Few companies have the clause of giving an experience certificate only upon the completion of 6 months with the organization. As far as the relieving letter is concerned, they will have to issue it. Basically, that letter is given to an outgoing employee when he or she has completed all the formalities with regards to handover, loans if any, and the company has nothing to claim from that employee. So, you might not have any issues giving the relieving letter to the employee.

No employee must be refused a relieving letter if they are leaving with proper notice accepted by the management. A relieving letter is definitely a record for the employer as well. Regarding the experience certificate, it is based on the individual organization's policy. A service certificate simply displays details such as the name, designation, date of joining, date of leaving, reason for leaving, and the last pay drawn.

You may issue a relieving letter to the same employee if he clears all his dues and provides a proper notice period.

Thank you.
