Hi,

The presentation is very good. A lot of hard work has gone into it. But I believe something is still missing. Whenever you prepare a presentation, you need to brief your audience in a summarized form about what you are going to speak or present and what the objective is. For example, this presentation should have been divided into all three aspects of communication - Speaking, Listening, and Writing skills. Then, PowerPoint slides need to be presented along those lines.

If you want, you can still do the same, as communication skills encompass all these aspects.

Hi Chiragi,

Nice presentation; however, please change the background as it looks ghastly. Perhaps your target audience is new joiners, which is why your presentation is generic and too basic. However, try to make it swanky. It is necessary to understand not to use gaudy colors. Animation and timings can be risky, as some LCD screens may act up and change colors once the presentation is projected.

Hi Chiragi,

If this PowerPoint presentation is for new employees who are not good at communication, this will work. You should look at some more material on Business Communication. This might not seem mature, as most employees are already conversant in English and have gone through much such training. We want to focus on formal and constructive communication, which is more applicable in the case of global and multinational companies.

I really appreciate your effort. Just want to add one thing - add pictures where the text is at least readable. But all in all, it's a good effort. Hey, people, 176 downloads... at least appreciate his efforts.

Nice work! 😃 If I may just add, most people take for granted the power of humor in communication. I've been trying to attach an e-book which offers a fresh approach on communication and training to illustrate my point, but I'm currently having technical difficulties. Hoping to have some luck later. 😞

Chiragi, this is very good. I just have one point to add. See below a few tips that were posted by one of the members of cite HR (Don't remember her name). I think this should help.

A few tips that will make your PPT slides impressive:

1. Not more than six lines per slide.
2. Not more than six words per line.
3. Not more than three colors for fonts.
4. Fonts should be simple.
5. Use fonts according to the audience you have (e.g., Times New Roman for a very formal crowd and Comic Sans for a college crowd or youngsters).
6. Font size 24 to 28 for central matter, 34 to 40 for titles.
7. Slide numbers are compulsory except for the title slide (Reason: If someone wants any clarification, they can just mention the slide number, and you can jump to that particular slide).
8. The topic should be mentioned on all slides at the bottom (except for the title slide). It keeps the audience aware of the topic throughout.
9. Do not use a lot of animations (It is disturbing to the eyes). Keep it as simple as possible.
10. Time settings are risky.

It was really nice of you to share the ppt. I'm quite sure you covered all the points or aspects needed to complete the ppt; a fantastic effort. However, I think a little sequentialization of the topics needs to be done. As Saleena has pointed out, the three aspects of communication should have been covered pointwise. Though your ppt spells out every point of interest, isn't it a bit detailed for a ppt?

Anyways, it was a really nice effort on your side. Thanks again for sharing it.

Hi Chiraji,

Good work! It looks like you have done some in-depth study on the subject. However, as one of the members pointed out, PowerPoint presentations (PPTs) should be short, sweet, and to the point. If this is for a class presentation or project on Communication, then it's fine, but remember that the shorter, the better. On the other hand, if it's for executives in a corporate setting, you should aim for a maximum of 10 slides; otherwise, you won't be able to hold your audience's attention for long.

Good presentation indeed. However, the cartoon pictures you have pasted on a few slides are not readable and clear. Could you do something about it? Also, could the number of slides be minimized? Perhaps by reducing the text and using bullet points?

Good effort!

I would list a few suggestions:

- The images used in the slides are not very clear.
- Run a spell check; in one of the slides, finance is written as "finane."
- Check the formatting. For example, you have used space before the comma at many places. At some points, there is no space after the comma. These may seem like smaller things, but they have a different impact when properly formatted.
- Generally, it is preferred to use the Arial font in PowerPoint slides.

Although the PPT is very informative, before using it in any session, you need to make it more concise because a PPT ideally should only express points and not full sentences.

Dear Chiragi,

It is a good collection of areas that can eventually become a good presentation. However, it needs refinement. There are too many thoughts. If you are to flash this to the audience for even one day - my guess is there's much more material than the audience would ask for.

Secondly, any presentation should start with a title, objective, and what it is targeting. I couldn't trace this in the presentation. But, as I said, don't get dismayed by my response - the collection of slides is good. You can compile this into a neat presentation. The PPT is very good and informative. In my humble opinion, this PPT would be more useful for a Presentation Skills Programme rather than a General Communication Skills Programme. If you want to utilize this for Communication Skills, you should include topics such as Communication Barriers, Effective Ways of Communication, Communication Channels, etc.

I appreciate your dedication and hard work in preparing the PPT. I hope you are relatively new to this field of creating PowerPoint presentations.

There are some do's and don'ts in preparing slides to make any topic more appealing and interesting. Give more emphasis to the background color and slide design you use. Keep it simple, as only then the content will be very appealing.

Regarding the content, I suggest cutting down on details in the slides, as not everyone has the patience to read everything on the slides. Also, try to reduce the number of slides and ensure each sub-topic includes interesting questions and activities to enhance understanding.

Overall, good work! Your experience will help you master slide preparation in the future.

Hi Chirag,

Your presentation is absolutely perfect. However, I would suggest you add a few points like:

1) Proxemics - The space/distance should be maintained during communication, whether personal or to the mass.

2) Chronomics - which means the correct timing, impact of time on communication.

3) Supportive communication:
(a) Problem (issue)-oriented, not person (personality)-oriented.
(b) Congruence, not incongruence (your feelings should match with your thinking).
(c) Specific, not global.
(d) Validates rather than invalidates the individual.
(e) Effective listening, not one-way message delivery (Chirag, you have already covered this point in your PPT).

These are just my views.

It was a fantastic effort, keep it up. The content was quite informative. Just a few pointers to turn it into an even more brilliant one:

1) Always introduce the topic to the audience followed by the objective.
2) Divide the main topic into different sub-topics.
3) Let there be just 3-4 points within the slide for the maximum attention of the audience.
4) Never leave any title untitled.
5) Do a spell and grammar check.

I am sure you put a lot of effort into compiling this presentation, and as a result, it has a lot of valuable content. So, in terms of hard work, I believe the credit goes to you.

But since you have requested feedback, I agree with the points suggested by Saleena. I would also like to add a few more points:

- A presentation should always have a structure.
- The first slide should discuss the structure and how the presentation is designed.
- It should also outline the objectives behind creating this presentation.
- There should be a logical flow in the presentation to avoid confusing the audience. For example, there are instances where you transition from discussing the presenter to the listener abruptly. If your presentation targets both, consider using separate headings to address each group individually.
- Lastly, the presentation is quite lengthy and often focuses on the dos and don'ts of presenting, discussing, and listening. Making it more engaging could be an option worth exploring.

I have been objective in providing these comments and sincerely hope they help you understand my perspective.
