Rejoining the Same Company: How to Handle Your PF Account Transfer Dilemma?

Clarification on PF Internal Transfer for Rejoiners

I have a clarification on PF internal transfer. I know that a PF account can be transferred by filling up the necessary forms when a person moves to another company. Is it possible for an internal transfer for rejoiners? If an employee rejoins the same organization after one or two years, a new PF number is given under the same establishment code. In this case, their old number was not transferred, nor was it claimed, and no break period was shown in the monthly returns submission as well.

Please advise whether it should be transferred from one number to another under the same establishment code, or if it should be claimed?

Thank you!

I believe it shall be transferred. Even I have the same issue. One of our employees rejoined after 4 months. Now, I am planning to transfer from the old account to the new account. I am planning to submit Form 13 by next week. Once submitted, I shall confirm the same. 

Provision for Rejoining Employees and PF Code Allocation

There is a provision available in the PF for rejoining employees to allot the same PF code in the name of rejoin. In case the previous account was closed and the amount was received from the individual, rejoining is not possible. The transfer form is not required for rejoining employees, and they should also use the same PF code number.

Dear Jeeva,

I understand that once we enter the exit details of the workmen in the EPF e-SEWA portal, we have to allot new numbers if they rejoin.

From Xavier's response, it's understood that if a person rejoins the company after a gap and has not withdrawn the PF amount, then they can continue with the same PF account number.

Transfer Process for PF Amount

I wanted to know if a person wants to transfer the amount, then after filling the transfer form, to whom does the new joinee have to submit the form, and how can they track whether the amount is transferred to the new account or not?

Thanks,
Naveen.

Internal PF Transfer for Rejoining Employees

In this case, it is not required to submit the transfer form within the organization. The same account number will be given to the rejoining employees, and the monthly contributions will be accounted for in the earlier account number.

For example, if X joined on 01.01.2011, left services on 31.12.2011, and then rejoined on 01.03.2012 within the organization, there is no need for a transfer form for rejoining employees.

For further clarification, you can check with your local PF Office as provisions are available for rejoining employees to provide their earlier account number. The accumulation will be ensured through the annual statement of accounts from the PF office.

You are right, but now the EPF e-SEWA portal has started, and this facility is not available. If the employees do not come, you fill up NCP days or mark this employee as left on the monthly statement. If you fill up NCP days and this employee rejoins, you give the old PF number. If you do not fill up NCP days and this employee rejoins, you are required to assign a new PF number.

I want to know if a new member of the organization is opening a PF account, should they fill out Form #2 (nomination form) and submit it to HR?

Questions Regarding Form #2 (Nomination Form)

1) What name should a married woman enter in Form #2 (nomination form)? Should she use the name she had before marriage, i.e., as per the tenth certificate, or should she enter the name/surname she acquired after marriage?

2) Should the date of birth in Form #2 be entered as per the tenth certificate, or can a person enter their original date of birth not as per the tenth mark sheet?

3) Can a person nominate their brother or sister for the PF amount?

4) If a new joiner is opening an account and filling out Form #2, do they need to enter the previous account number they had with the previous organization in the account number option?

5) If a new joiner at organization X wants to transfer funds from organization Y to X's account, to whom should they submit Form 13? How can they track whether the fund has been credited to X's organization or not?

Thanks,

Naveen.
