How Can Creative Art from Waste Inspire Us to Embrace Sustainability?

Sustainable Development and Environmental Focus

Under sustainable development, the environmental focus is on reducing natural resources. If reduction is not possible, then the reuse concept should be followed. If both of these are not possible, then companies have to adopt the recycling methodology.

Attached is the PowerPoint presentation on innovative art from automobile parts. The reuse of waste parts can be seen in these artistic creations. I have also posted the same presentation in the motivation category, but it fits well here too. Although the main idea of this presentation is to showcase imagination in art, the concept also highlights the reuse of waste materials.

Let's reflect on this. If we could reduce, reuse, or recycle, we would be helping the next generations.

Thanks, Sudhir. This is a value-adding subject you posted here. Your "3 R" program is an internationally accepted concept. We usually conduct a campaign on this once every year to raise employee awareness of the importance of sound environmental practices.

Environmental Issues

Environmental issues are now addressed by most nations and organizations to prevent:
- Climate Change
- Depletion of natural resources
- Environmental pollution
- Waste Generation

The "3 R" Program

- Reduce - The volume of natural resources we use
- Reuse - Everything possible
- Recycle - Everything possible

By doing this, we would benefit from:
- Sustainable development and well-being for future generations
- Meeting client & customer requirements
- Good corporate governance
- Compliance with legislation

Sorry for the long-winded post; this is one of my favorite subjects of all time.

Thanks,
Sam

I am quoting your introductory words at the beginning with a specific purpose.

What you have mentioned—reducing natural resources, and if not reusing, if not recycling—is a perfectly right message.

However, I feel it is not perfectly represented in the attached PowerPoint presentation.

The sole purpose of Reduce/Reuse/Recycle is not achieved when creating the objects shown in the presentation.

It is fine that the showpieces resulting from the rework are fantastic, but there must have been a lot of energy spent to reuse the unused automobile parts—if we believe that all the parts used were really reused and could not have been used for any other better recycling work.

At the end of the rework or recycling of the objects, besides spending energy (manpower + electricity for various operations), what is created are showpiece objects and not any usable machine or object.

It has become a craze in the modern world to create such kinds of artwork, which do not actually involve recycled objects. If not all, at least many of them would be new ones made to look like old. Ultimately, what is created is art, which fetches a lot of money in the Western world.

I apologize for contradicting the message.

The message should have been reflected in producing a machine or an object of value in the day-to-day life of an ordinary human on this planet Earth (not for the wealthy, rich, spoiled, unwanted load on this mother Earth)!"

Perfectly alright and agreed. Somewhere in 2009, I presented an idea of reconditioning old automobiles and making them new using most of the old parts to students at the College of Engineering. Principally, everyone agrees, but commercially, such projects do not prove to be viable. We should really start thinking in these terms; otherwise, we will be compelled or forced to undertake those projects in the near future. In fact, when I retrieved this PowerPoint presentation, it reminded me of starting this thread. I appreciate the person for his innovative ideas. I make special efforts while training young engineers in R&D and Design Departments, provoking them to think to reduce the material content. If you have done any such projects, please upload them for the sake of discussions on this thread. However, your thoughts are welcome.
