My ESI has been deducted until March 2012. On 4th April 2012, my mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. When I checked, my mother's name was not on my dependent list.

My employer informed me that I can receive benefits until October 2012, but my mother's name cannot be added to my dependent list at this time.

My questions are: Can I add my mother's name to my dependent list now? Additionally, I remember writing my mother's name on the dependent list, but my employer is denying this. Is there any way for me to confirm whether I did write it or not?

Please reply promptly as the expenses for the operation and other costs are very high and I cannot afford them.

It is the first priority of the HR department to add dependents of their employees as soon as the employee joins if they are eligible for ESIC. So, right now, you can also add your dependent through the HR contact person in your organization.

I should mention one more thing that starting from 1st April, my salary is exceeding the ESI limit of 15000. That's why I am inquiring if I can add it now. Sorry for not mentioning this earlier. Please reply.

It seems your HR department does not know the procedure for adding your mother's name to your ESIC card. It is a matter of 5 minutes, and they can add it online and provide you with a print. I have an ESI card with my photo alone. I thought to register for family. I filled out a form, affixed a joint photo, and got a seal and signature from my employer.
