Career Transition: Corporate HR to School HR Manager

I am working in the corporate field as an HR, but I have received an opportunity to work as an HR Manager in a school. Should I accept the position as an HR Manager in the school? Will this opportunity contribute to my career growth? Additionally, I am concerned about whether returning to the corporate field after some time in the school setting will negatively impact my career growth. I would appreciate any advice on this matter.

The job responsibilities of an HR Manager are the same everywhere, whether they work in a corporate field or in an academic field. In a corporate setting, there may be more workers and more work, whereas in a school, there may be fewer workers with less work.

As mentioned by Green, the responsibilities will not change. This will only help your career as, for now, you will have exposure to both corporate and educational sectors. Very few people will have such exposure. Most HR managers only know how to hire from Naukri.com or Monster.com. The educational institute might help you recruit through other sources like newspaper adverts, consultancies, etc.

The work atmosphere in a school will be much more relaxed compared to hectic corporate companies, which are sales and target-driven.

Hope you will enjoy the change.

No one can answer that question except yourself. Revisit the starting point, i.e., what makes you apply for the school job or what makes you want to resign from your current job? If the answer is compelling enough, you should know what to do next.
