Do Companies Cover Travel Costs for Interviewees? Share Your Experiences and Insights

Hi,

Does your company provide traveling expenses reimbursement for candidates called for an interview? Kindly provide details as follows:

Company:
Industry:
TA given or not given:

The company I used to work for provided TA up to II AC train tickets to candidates called for an interview. It was a multinational manufacturing company.

Once, when I attended an interview at a government organization, they provided me with traveling reimbursement. The benefit is that even if you don't get the job, at least you get to see a new city and travel. :P

Even in my present company, we give travel reimbursement to the employees. I think it is a good practice because by doing this, many candidates come for the interview. Sometimes, potential people don't give interviews in different cities because they feel that if they are not selected, they will waste money on traveling.

If you believe that the shortlisted candidates for a personal interview are good and you want to shortlist one among them, then I suggest you should pay travel reimbursement. We pay the train fare. According to the grade, we have decided the maximum amount to be paid to the interviewee.

Hi,

Yes, travel expense reimbursement for interview candidates is a very common practice these days, and it is a very good practice. As rightly said by one of our friends, even if the employee is not selected, they still feel that their money is not wasted.

The company I work for does reimburse the expenses according to our HR policy. It is as follows:
- Trainees/Executives/Associate Managers/Managers - 3rd AC train fare/bus
- AGM/GM/AVP - Economy air fare/1st class AC train
- VP/EVP/President/CEO - Business class or actuals.

Apart from this, at times, special approvals can be given by the concerned HOD in some special cases like if the candidate is coming from a long distance or the interview has to be scheduled immediately, etc.

Regards,
Harsha.
