Gratuity Payment After Resignation: What's the Time Limit and Tax Implications?

Can you please tell me the time limit for the payment of gratuity to an employee after they become eligible and resign? I know the maximum limit for gratuity payment is 10 lakhs, but in case the amount exceeds this limit, will it be required to pay the excess amount? If so, is it taxable? Kindly clarify my doubts.

The time limit to pay gratuity is 30 days from the date of separation. As per the limit of 10 lakhs, the amount over 10 lakhs is taxable.
