Considering SAP HR Module as an MBA Student: Is It the Right Move for My Career?

Hello all HR professionals,

I am an MBA HR student currently pursuing the 3rd semester at BMSCE in Bangalore. I am considering undertaking SAP in the HR module at this point. Could you please provide guidance on whether this would be a good decision?

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Jagadish,

This is Srikanth here. As you are still in the studying phase, I suggest you wait another 3-4 years to do your SAP (in the module of your choice). This suggestion is basically for the following reasons:

1. You need to have at least 2-3 full-time post-qualification experience in HR (it could be any vertical in HR).
2. You would be required to know the know-how of dealing with a particular aspect in HR functions, be it recruiting, training, or performance management. So, you need to be perfect in your basics and understand the process of how things are done.

If you still want to proceed with SAP in HR or any other module, my suggestion is this: IT majors like Satyam and Wipro take freshers, train them on these ERP systems, and retain them as trainees for 2-3 years. You could check out for such openings.

Regards,
Srikanth

Hi Shrikant,

I am a B.Com graduate and pursuing my distance MBA. I have 5 years of experience in HR. I am also looking forward to doing SAP HR. Can I apply to Satyam or Wipro? Do they provide certification in SAP? Please shed some light.

Cheers!!
Sami.

Hi Srikanth,

I want to add value to my CV, so I am in search of additional courses. Could you suggest some other courses that I can take up to enhance my knowledge and skill sets? Also, please guide me on the openings at Satyam and other company management trainee positions for training in SAP HR.

Thank you for your help.

Yours sincerely,

Budding Manager
