Encountered a Tough Interview Question: How Do You Defend Hiring Female Employees?

I recently attended an interview where I was asked a few weird questions, and one I am sharing here.

Why Should an Organization Hire Female Employees?

Why should an organization hire female employees knowing the fact that they will take frequent leaves due to family issues, kids, maternity leave, and many more? Can someone help with the answers?

I replied that if the organization is an equal opportunity employer, then they should give equal opportunity to females. Today, females are equally educated and competitive when it comes to assigning work or responsibilities compared to men.

However, upon hearing this, he said that this is a stupid answer.

I will go with Mr. Bhaskar and agree with his response here. Also, we must not forget the fact that we all have a WOMAN as the first manager in our families who manages us in many ways. They have all the ability, even much more than we males have, to establish themselves in this marketing and competitive world too.

I also agree with your reply to the interviewer, but the question presented by the interviewer was specifically for married women, which can be expected and must be answered tactfully with confidence. We do accept that women have lots of family responsibilities and may take leaves, but it is not all about that, and it's also true. Today's women have changed; they know how to manage their work and home, but we can't ignore the basic needs of women either. Therefore, this must be defined well to the interviewer by a female candidate because this is not just a question; there are many things behind it, such as the aspirations of women, abilities, entrepreneurship, and much more.

Even though we all know that today, women have become an essential part of our business. We have many women here in this place who have set good examples for us too.

Thanks for the response. I tried to convince the interviewer in many ways. In fact, the person taking my interview was an Assistant Manager, and the HR manager there was also a female. I even gave the same example, but for every response, he said that females are not hardworking, not sincere in their work, and mentioned many negative things about female employees.

I felt as if he was frustrated due to some reason and was not ready to accept any of the replies.
