I am the HR of a newly born IT company, and I am the only HR personnel. I want to implement innovative HR tools and strategies for disciplines, leave management, employee attrition, retention, and engagement. Kindly suggest the proper way to achieve my goal.

You may want to start by setting up policies and procedures such as leave management, office timings, attendance management, and addressing issues related to laws. You can start with the following activities:

1. Employee Handbook - This should include the code of conduct, office timings, policies, etc. It will serve as the induction to the organization as well as the disciplinary function.

2. Prepare a Joining Kit - Include the offer letter, appointment letter, joining report, interview report, Form F, and Form 2 for gratuity & PF.

3. Work on HR Policies - Focus on leave, attendance, discipline, travel & accommodation, referral, and PMS policy.

4. Letter Formats - Prepare formats for appointment, offer, promotion, appraisal, leave management, termination, and contracts for IT trainees.

5. Set Parameters for Recruitment - Also, have set patterns for job descriptions (JD's).

6. Prepare a Hierarchy of Designations - Develop an organization hierarchy chart.

7. Compliance with Local Labor & Industrial Laws - Study the local labor and industrial laws applicable to your company and ensure compliance.

I really like your suggestion. Right now, I have joined a new company. It is a casting production company. I have good experience in the HR field, yet sometimes I find myself facing problems due to the lack of interest from my management.

HR Initiatives

I started with HR policies and useful formats like offer letters, appointment letters, etc. I have handled all job descriptions in a month, and now I am going to start employee engagement activities such as birthday celebrations, tours, picnics, and organizing some sports games.

Focus on Training

Currently, I am focusing on the training part. I am preparing for induction training and other forms of training. I would appreciate your suggestions for this part. What other types of training can I arrange?
