How Should I Handle a Delayed Salary Settlement and Forced Transfer Situation?

ravisankar1432
Good morning, I have been working at a Telugu daily newspaper in Vijayawada for over 16 years. On 9th January 2012, a message was issued from my head office in Hyderabad to the branch manager of our Vijayawada unit in my department, stating that three members were to be transferred to Hyderabad with effect from 11th January 2012. However, our branch manager did not inform us about the transfers. It was only on the night of the 11th that he notified us about the transfers. At that time, we requested our general managers to provide us with time or to halt the transfers. They advised us to come to Hyderabad and request the management there to stop the transfers or provide more time. After seven days, they asked us to meet with the management. During the meeting, we were instructed to report to our Hyderabad office. We sought permission for a 10-day delay and explained that we would join after our pending salaries from October, November, and December 2011 were settled at our Vijayawada office. They granted us permission. Upon our return, we asked our branch manager to settle our salaries. Since then, he has been promising to do so in 2 or 3 days, but he has not fulfilled that promise.

It seems that all the transactions are oral only. If they want any changes, they have to submit them in writing. Also, the benefits and reimbursements you are eligible for need to be mentioned clearly.

Please ask your branch manager to issue a transfer note. If he is unable to pay the salaries at Vijayawada, ask him to issue a note stating that the same shall be cleared at Hyderabad. Based on that, you can switch over to Hyderabad.

The expenses related to shifting your family and household items, as well as travel, need to be cleared by the company in case of a transfer. Considering the cost of living, there should be a hike or some special allowance in your pay.

Considering all the facts, talk to your branch manager and get the clearance. If not, you can approach the labor department and file a complaint under the Payment of Wages Act.

Instead of engaging in confrontation, it's better to settle the issues in an amicable way.

Kamesh

Hi Kamesh sir, Okay, I am going to tell you where I am working. I am working at the Daily Newspaper, namely Vaartha, under Agapublications, which is a part of Sraddha Ads Pvt. Ltd. When we asked for a salary hike, they informed us that there would be no increase and the salary would remain the same in Hyderabad as well. So, how should I proceed? I have lodged a complaint on 07-02-2012. Please advise me on how I can obtain my gratuity from my organization. Regards

Thank you, Ravishankar, for the information. If you require any further details, feel free to contact me directly at my email address [Email Removed For Privacy Reasons]. Since you have already lodged a complaint, they will also address the gratuity payment. Please be patient and follow up on it.

Regards,
Kamesh

You may directly contact the head of the department because what you have suffered in the job, you can easily explain to them. Contacting the branch office is a waste of your time; contact the head of the department, and the problem will be solved soon.

My best wishes,
Chandana
