How Can I Legally Request a Payslip from My NGO Employer?

I am working in an organization where they are refusing to give a payslip. How do I legally question them about this? It is an NGO.

Do they pay you by cheque, cash, or voucher? What happens to the IT Act 1961? How will you file returns in the absence of a paper trail to support your income?

If it is the central government, or any government concern for that matter, you won't have any problem. Are you not signing any voucher or register? If that is done, then fine. Moreover, on a daily basis, I don't think a payslip will be given.

Yes, I do sign on my register. I don't have any problems with the payslip. I am on payroll, but just for my information, how my salary has been calculated, I needed the payslip.

Have they not mentioned in your offer letter/appointment order about the salary breakdown? If there are discrepancies in your salary every month, because of which you require a payslip, then try claiming it from your accountant. In my case, they are asking why do we need a payslip? Even after we tried explaining, they still give the same reply. So, I am trying out other ways. If anything works out, I'll let you know.

Labour laws expressly stipulate that an employee must receive their salary slip/details at least a day in advance before the salary is disbursed. Otherwise, the whole matter of wages becomes more like a lottery, with employees making wild guesses.
