Creating an Employee Time Tracking System in Excel: How Can I Make It Work?

dodo20800
I need an Excel sheet that I can use on the main computer in the company. Every employee should be able to come in, enter their ID and password, and click "push in." The Excel sheet should automatically record their entry time. When they want to leave, they should enter their ID and password again and click "push out," and the Excel sheet should automatically record their exit time. This process should apply to all employees.

Notes: The time should be calculated per hour. I should be able to search and find the records of each employee for a month.

In addition to what White Eagle has suggested, please consider reading the following posts on how to build an MIS. You would need to hire an external consultant or an agency that can map all your requirements and offer you the best solution. The discussions and formats shared here are for your reference.

Alternatively, you may consider starting to put the information available for the employee in a definite pattern so that it can be accessed by everyone who may need it. The problem with such an internal effort is that it remains a patchwork. Please consider a solution in totality. You may share the areas that you find difficult for us to further brainstorm.

Thank you.

Limitations of Using Excel for Employee Time Tracking

This XLS business won't work out as you wish. Maybe for 10 people, this may work. A spreadsheet is a good tool for individual administration and not the ultimate tool for MIS. It's better to explore some good tools to manage data in your organization.

If your question is about maintaining check-in/out records for every individual employee, an Excel sheet won't work for this purpose on a large scale. It would be better to opt for an AMS (Attendance Management System).
