General Responsibility

• Serve as an internal resource and external representative on CSR issues.
• Staff the CSR senior steering committee, whose role is to develop and approve initiatives that further BSC's CSR commitment. Develop recommendations for the committee and executive team where needed.
• Craft strategy implementation plans and be held accountable for results.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts where needed.
• Manage CSR assessment and consulting engagements and other external consultants.
• Manage the CSR reporting process, working with business units and communications.
• Attend conferences, participate in CSR membership organizations, gather and share resources.
• Benchmark competition and industry best practices.
• Work with HR, Internal Communications, and Employee Engagement teams to develop internal communications and employee involvement plans as needed.

Green/Sustainability Program Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive annual sustainability plan in concert with representatives of related functional areas and business units, covering: energy use; waste reduction; carbon footprint; employee involvement and communications; and external leadership.
• Project lead for the Green Team, which identifies opportunities, makes recommendations to the steering committee, and leads adoption within their business units.
• Project lead and content owner for the green intranet site.
• Conduct carbon footprint/greenhouse gas emissions analysis and work with outside experts to verify it. Analyze areas of impact and craft a footprint reduction strategy in concert with relevant internal stakeholders. Vet options for external reporting or commitments.
• Work with external communications and other parties to pursue appropriate public relations, marketing, recognition, and awards to validate BSC's efforts.
• Assist the steering committee and Green Team in establishing and meeting corporate sustainability goals and metrics. Manage and track goals and metrics.
• Work with other external consultants as needed (for example, waste audit consultants).
